Marking International Condom Day with Students of Michuki Technical Training College

The International Condom Day celebration took place at Michuki Technical College under the theme ‘Safer is Sexy’. The event further created awareness on unplanned pregnancy and focused majorly on the triple tragedies that affect young girls across the Sub-Sahara; Gender Violence, HIV & AIDS infection, and pregnancies.

Sir Antonio International Executive Director engaged the young people on proper condom education. He unpacked the condom access, use and disposal. His messaging centered on an ideology referred to as the 4 Ps of condom, Pleasure, Performance, Prevention & Protection.

“The condom messaging for our young people needs to undergo a clinical procedure, this should be informed with today’s realities considering the higher risk perception our young people face” Sir Antonio said.

“The center piece of our messaging should however focus on behaviour change; simply put, 60% of issues bedeviling our youth, and the young corporates can be addressed simply by change in behavior”.

The King of Condom, Mr. Stanley Ngara graced the occasion and took the opportunity to rendition a song advocating for safer sex.

Present also was Program Development and Advocacy Manager, Faith Ndungu from Aids Healthcare Foundation Kenya office. AHF Kenya added color and pomp in the ceremony as they sponsored Miss & Mr. Condom the biggest highlight of the day. As the authors of ICD, AHF directed the focus of their country campaign to center on those at high risk for HIV and vulnerable populations.
